JOB SUMMARY:
The Accounting Assistant position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions by accurately entering data into accounting software.
  • Process per capita tax revenue and payments.
  • File and retrieve confidential documents, records, and prepare reports as needed.
  • Preparation of journal entries.
  • Balancing and analyzing general ledger accounts.
  • Reconciliation of entries into the accounting system.
  • Develop spreadsheets and record-keeping methods.
  • Reconcile bank accounts.
  • Prepare and process invoices and payments.
  • Prepare and process payroll.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Assist with audits.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing.
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail and faxes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in Accounting, or equivalent of 3-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, courteous, and tactful.
  • Ability to work independently with little-to-no supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent data entry skills.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Google.

  • Must be able to work at desk/computer for extended periods of time.
