From the desk of the President

I would like to thank those of you who attended the Stewards training class on November 8th. The union is hopeful that we will have new stewards on the ground very soon.

Still have contract questions? Do not hesitate to reach out to the union. We are happy to give you clarification on any questions that you have.
Be sure to check out the AFSCME 1583 website! I am also happy to announce that the official AFSCME Facebook page is coming very soon.
Unfortunately, the facility that we normally use for our membership meetings has been under construction for the last 7 months. We had hoped that we would be allowed back last month, but we were informed that it will now be December.

If you receive a DLO (Disciplinary Layoff), and you have not been provided a union steward, please reach out to the union to let us know.
Welcome new members! Did you know that being a dues paying member and being in good standing allows you the opportunity to vote on your contract, to attend membership and information meetings as well as hold positions within the union? Contact the union and join today!

Not receiving emails? Please be sure to update your email and password with HITS. The union primarily relies on email to notify you of important union information as well as upcoming events.

Site Visits- South Quad-Orientation, Michigan Medicine, Building Services-Orientation, Michigan Union. Please let me know if you would like a site visit so that I can plan accordingly around your breaks or lunches.

District Stewards are needed on Central Campus! Please join the team!
As a District Steward, you will assist your fellow union members, Chief Stewards, and your Union when you become part of the team. If you are interested in joining, please email Angela Dameron, President, [email protected] or contact the union office at, 734-480-1300.

Chief Stewards are in the office on Fridays and available to answer your questions, 12pm-2pm. You can reach them by calling 734-480-1300.

In Solidarity,

Angela S. Dameron, President
