Last month due to unforeseen circumstances the space that we normally use to hold our union meetings posed a severe safety risk and therefore we could not hold our monthly membership meeting there. The union did not turn anyone away and with the nice weather on our side we used the parking lot to meet. We were able to answer questions, network and socialize. Thank you to those of you who showed up and participated.

We will be negotiating every Monday and Wednesday beginning on April 21, 2025. Please be advised that it will not impact on the union’s ability to respond to our members. Please offer some grace if you reach out on a Monday or Wednesday as negotiations will take up most of the day. We will respond to you as soon as possible.

Visit the Michigan AFSCME 925 website for training opportunities. The classes are free, but they fill up quickly.

Did you know…As a member of AFSCME Local 1583 you can use our fax machine and make copies for union business. Please contact the office for an appointment if either of these services are needed.

Do you know that being a dues paying member in good standing means that you can hold any office in the union? You can also be a member of the bargaining team, vote on the contract, hold any office, attend union meetings, and enjoy union events. 

I am currently doing weekly site visits at Michigan Medicine. If you would like to meet me in the cafeteria for a conversation, please reach out to me so that we can set up a time to meet. I am happy to answer any questions that you may have.

District Stewards are needed on Central Campus! Please Join the team!
