Hello Brothers and Sisters,

In recent months, we have seen an increase in unexcused absences. You are responsible for maintaining consistent, reliable attendance. You should have a copy of your department's attendance policy.

This summer, Student Life has implemented an incentive for employees to become Cook 1s for Wolverine Village.

Department Grounds now has a new classification, Groundskeeper 3.

Discipline:

Discipline should be both corrective and progressive, not punitive. Michigan Medicine and the University (campus) will follow a corrective, progressive discipline process. This process may include a documented warning, a written warning, a one-day disciplinary layoff, a two-day disciplinary layoff, or a written warning instead of a disciplinary layoff (paper DLO—for absenteeism only), and discharge. If an employee remains discipline-free for one year, the supervisor will repeat a step before moving forward with progressive discipline. Paper DLOs will be identified as such and used as disciplinary action for unexcused absenteeism. For serious offenses, the steps of progressive discipline may vary.

Inappropriate Language:

Stay aware of your surroundings and people nearby. Avoid sensitive topics; personal and intimate conversations are not suitable. Profanity is never acceptable. Discriminatory or demeaning language is unwelcome. Inappropriate words spoken in jest or anger can have serious consequences. If a situation becomes uncomfortable or confrontational, do not hesitate to disengage quickly and quietly. Never be afraid to step away to help de-escalate the situation.
